Wireless Recon – Engineering Wireless LANs!

Helium has transformed wireless LAN and Wi-Fi site surveys for companies and organizations-large and small. Utilizing our patented technology, Wireless Recon is the only RF site survey tool in the wireless LAN market that automatically and continuously collects real wireless measurements with precise indoor location data.

Download the "Performing RF Site Surveys" whitepaper.

The result? Your organization's WLAN or Wi-Fi network can be deployed in as little as half the time of conventional approaches, and your network is optimized with high-performance throughput, exceptional reliability, secure coverage, and assured scalability. Whether you are designing for Voice over Wireless LAN (VoWLAN), RFID location tracking or other wireless applications, Wireless Recon is the site survey tool for you.  Refer to the complete list of features and benefits.

The Wireless Recon site survey and audit system combines SiteScout™ mapping hardware and SiteSense™ software.

Here's a snapshot of using Wireless Recon:

Collecting indoor location and Wi-Fi data
Using the automated indoor positioning SiteScout, you'll be creating a distinct RF survey point every step of the way. The site survey path generated by the indoor tracking of Wireless Recon.
Insert notes and pictures and tie them directly to an indoor position location for documentation and follow-on support. Screenshot showing W-Fi coverage and the note taking feature of Wireless Recon site survey tool.
Analyzing data

SiteSense software collects wireless measurements every second along the path to build the industry's most complete set of wireless measurements.

SiteSense can automatically locate access points and display their locations, including rogue access points and other wireless LANs.

Maps are color coded green, yellow and red.  The color boundaries can be set to match your WLAN specifications.

SiteSense analysis screen showing Wi-Fi coverage on the survey path and Wi-Fi details at a specific location.
This rich data set is then used to create highly accurate propagation maps for further analysis.

Maximum signal expanded map shows the highest reading per access point at every location.
Heat map showing the projected Wi-Fi coverage for the entire site survey area.
Number of access points map shows how many AP's are providing coverage at each location. Map showing the number of Wi-Fi access points providing coverage at each location of the site survey path.
Use Wireless Recon in the parking lot to accurately measure the signal leakage of your wireless network for compliance with your WLAN security policy. Heat map for projected coverage where the site survey path includes areas outside the building.
Simulating data
Reduce an access points power level to reduce signal leakage in the parking lot. Heat map showing the effects of virtually changing the access point power output on the projected coverage.
Easily "turn off" an access point to see the impact of removing an AP from the network.
All access points active. Coverage map along the site survey path for all access points.
One redundant access point "turned off". Coverage map along the site survey path for situation where one of the access points is turned off.
Change the signal strength thresholds for the coverage map visualizations to verify the network will handle demanding applications such as Voice over Wireless or RFID location tracking.
