THE BUSINESS CHALLENGE:

Preferred Primary Care Physicians (PPCP) is one of Southwestern Pennsylvania's largest physicians practice groups with 21 locations and 33 Doctors. PPCP was experiencing extreme Wi-Fi connectivity problems with its initial mission-critical network deployment in a 3000 sq. ft. office space. The loss of connectivity affected the productivity among the organization's doctors and nurses, and generated overall user dissatisfaction with the network. It threatened the whole electronic medical record strategy the group had adopted.

HELIUM'S SOLUTION:

It 's a common tendency to underestimate the need for optimization when deploying Wi-Fi in a small environment, and PPCP's network was a good case in point. Using a Wireless Recon™ system, one of Helium's network engineers was able to quickly determine the wireless network's coverage holes, channel conflicts and interference from third party devices. As in most wireless installations today, it was determined that adding additional access points was not the best way to solve the problem.

By relocating access points to ensuring 100% coverage (with visual mapping) and maximizing the wireless channels available using patented algorithms, Helium was able to solve PPCP's connectivity issues and optimize the network all for less than the price of a new access point!

Now, PPCP has an integrated, state-of the-art EMR solution that is a benefit to both the organization and the patients with an efficient, accurate system. Six locations have already been serviced, and others within the practice group will follow as they go wireless. --- Enterprise-class wireless networks (those running mission-critical applications, both large and small) require best practices methods in design and maintenance.
