The Benefits of a Wireless Network

Wireless networking is quickly becoming the norm for networking at schools, businesses, and homes. The rise of wireless networking can probably be attributed to not only the world’s love of new technology, but the ease of creating a wireless network and its numerous benefits. Lack of wires, cost, installation, and the way it lets the internet be used are all benefits of having wireless networking.

Wireless, this alone is a large benefit to a wireless network. No wires mean greater mobility, less cost, and greater safety. A wireless network user only has to be in range of their network system. Places that ordinarily would be too difficult to run cords can have wireless access. Cost is significantly low in the long run for a wireless network, because cords do not have to be bought or installed. Also, cords are out of the way that could pose a risk for tripping and falling.

A wireless network allows for easy connectivity between computers. Files can be shared over the wireless network without the need of saving them to disk or flash drive. Printing tasks can be sent to one printer from different computers through the wireless network, but also other devices set to the wireless network can be shared such as a scanner.

Another benefit that wireless networking presents is the way it allows the internet to be used. Multiple computers and devices within a wireless network’s range can use the same ISP for internet use, and can also sign on at the same time from any location in range. Phone calls can be placed on a wireless network using the internet. Voice over Internet Protocol, abbreviated as VoIP, is the name for phone calls made over the internet. VoIP calls can be cheaper than regular calls, especially beneficial to those who want to make international calls.
